BOSCH Ebike ABS
Intelligent braking, superior control.
BOSCH ABS
What is eBike ABS?
The Bosch eBike ABS is designed to prevent the front wheel from locking up and the rear wheel from lifting off the ground during sudden braking situations. This technology is similar to ABS systems used in cars but tailored for the unique needs of bikes, especially electric ones that can reach higher speeds than traditional bikes.
How Does It Work?
The system uses sensors on both wheels that continuously monitor wheel speed. When a potentially dangerous braking situation is detected, the ABS modulates brake pressure to maintain wheel traction and improve stability. Put simply, if you slam the brakes on, the front wheel won’t lock!
This process happens almost instantaneously, reducing the risk of accidents caused by wheel lock-up or flipping over.
What does Dan think of ABS?
"The latest Bosch ABS is a significant improvement over its predecessor. Gone is the bulky box under the front lightâit was clunky and quite expensive. Now, the system is sleek, mounted discreetly on the back of the fork, and costs a lot less! It's brilliant how it monitors the speed of both wheels to enhance safety dramatically. Firstly, it prevents you from flipping over the handlebars during emergency stops. Secondly, it reduces the risk of the front wheel losing grip, or 'washing out,' when cornering on loose surfaces. It's a no-brainer. If you can afford it, definitely fit it. I've personally tested it in Snowdoniaâs challenging conditionsâloose terrain and sideways rain. It greatly simplified handling the bike on technical descents."

What are the Benefits of Bosch eBike ABS?
Increased Safety: The main benefit is enhanced safety. By preventing the wheels from locking, riders can maintain control even during emergency stops, reducing the risk of falls and collisions.
Improved Handling in Diverse Conditions: Whether riding on wet roads or loose gravel, the ABS helps maintain stability, giving riders confidence across varying terrains.
Greater Control During Descents: EBike ABS ensures that braking is smooth and controlled so you feel safer on downhills.
- Great when fully loaded:Â ABS is particularly useful when you are transporting heavy loads such as on Cargo bikes. If you’re doing the school run on a Load4 60 you’ll feel a lot safer in wet conditions knowing ABS can prevent the front wheel sliding out.
