The Riese & Müller Load4 60 is the brand new sibling of the ever-popular Load 60. Another quality eCargo bike, the Load4 60 is great for carrying firewood, camping gear, beers and dogs. And you can always add child seats too for ferrying kids or grandkids around.
“But what’s the difference between the Load and the Load4?” we hear you cry! Simply put; the Load4 comes with the Bosch SmartSystem and the Load doesn’t. Due to this, the Load4 doesn’t have DualBattery or Rohloff options, but you do have a larger single battery that you can upgrade to – so it’s really down to personal preference.
As with all Riese & Müller e-bikes, there are plenty of additional extras to choose from. When it comes to the front carry there’s a huge range to choose from including high and low sides; tarpaulins and hard covers; a glove compartment and child seats and rain covers. If you’re going to leave your bike somewhere for a bit longer opt for an additional ABUS chain lock extension.
While you can’t get DualBattery with the Load4 60, you can choose an option upgrade to 725Wh. If that’s still not enough, you can always purchase a spare to pop in your bag for those longer rides.
And if you’re planning off-road trips the GX pack is a must-have as it includes all-terrain Schwalbe Smart Sam Plus tyres and flat tyres for extra grip. I’d also go for the high side walls and tarpaulin so you can carry all your extra camping gear without toppling over.
What would I recommend? Well, I love adventure riding, so I’d choose the Load4 60 touring – it has plenty of low gears for fully laden hill climbing.
