Your new Riese & Müller e-bike will come with a Bosch battery motor and display – but what is the warranty on the battery? And in the unlikely event that you need a replacement, how much will this cost? We explore these questions – along with all the benefits of this industry-leading electric bike battery – in this week’s blog post. Dive in!
Bosch battery warranty
As standard, Bosch offers a two-year warranty on your e-bike battery – or 500 charge cycles – whichever comes soonest.
To work out how many miles 500 charges may equate to, if you anticipate that you’ll likely get around 50 miles from one battery charge, 500 charges would be around 25,000 miles of cycling – so you’ll most likely reach the two-year mark first.
There is no need to register your warranty, all you’ll require is your original proof of purchase, as your warranty is valid from the date. And, it is worth noting this warranty is only valid for the first owner of the bike.
In the highly unlikely scenario that your electric bike battery fails at any point within the warranty period, we can claim a new one through Bosch for you, and they will ship this out for us to fit to your bike – nice and simple.
Benefits of a Bosch battery
Bosch batteries are an efficient, long-life energy source.
Thanks to their enormous mileage, long service life and intelligent battery management system, Bosch lithium-ion batteries are among the most modern on the market.
Bosch e-bike rechargeable batteries combine low weight with ergonomic design and simple handling, and the Battery Management System (BMS) detects potential sources of error and protects cells from overloading.
- No memory effect
Bosch batteries with lithium-ion cells can be charged quickly irrespective of your charge level at any time. Interruptions to the charging process will not harm the battery, and complete discharge is not required.
- Extremely low self-discharge
Even after long periods of storage – over winter for example – the battery can be used without recharging. This means Bosch rechargeable batteries do not need to be recharged after a long break in use. For longer storage, a charge status of approx. 30 to 60% is recommended.
- Long service life
Bosch batteries are designed for lots of trips, miles and years of service. The intelligent, electronic Bosch BMS protects lithium-ion batteries from extreme temperatures, overcharging, and excessive discharge.
The cost of a new battery
If you do need a new battery for any reason, there’s no getting away from the fact that they aren’t cheap. You may be looking at around £600-800, however Bosch makes some of the most reliable, long-lasting batteries in the industry, so the chances of you needing a new battery at any point in the near future is pretty slim.
